Box office: 'Chashme Baddoor' opens well; «Himmatwala' nowhere near 100 crores

Director David Dhawan's "Chashme Baddoor" is the only release of Bollywood this week and unlike last week, 'Himmatwala' offer, has managed a respectable opening at the national box office.

The film, starring Ali Zafar, Siddharth, Divyendu Sharma and Taapsee Pannu has more than enough managed to pull in the crowds despite no involvement so of a big star. Morning shows boast a 30 to 40% occupancy, amounting to 35-45% in the afternoon. These figures are expected to increase in the evening and also on weekends. It seems that comments have served as a boost in good health for the public and promotions, the initial posters and trailers have also kept the interested public. It is, of course, a remake of the 1981 film the same name.

On the other hand, Sajid Khan "Himmatwala" which was published last week saw a drop in the Windows of ticket that can perhaps be put down to Word of mouth. The film is currently in difficulty under the 50 mark crores, placing way below could reach the mark at halfway in its first week to what he had promised Khan.

Director David Dhawan’s ‘Chashme Baddoor’ is this week’s only Bollywood release and unlike last week’s offering, ‘Himmatwala’, has managed a respectable opening at the domestic box office.

The movie, which stars Ali Zafar, Siddharth, Divyendu Sharma and Taapsee Pannu has more than adequately managed to pull in the crowds despite no involvement as such from a big star. Morning shows boast a 30-40% occupancy rising to 35-45% in the afternoon. These figures are expected to rise in the evening and also during the weekend. It seems the reviews have served as a healthy push for the audiences and the promotions, initial posters and trailers have also kept the audiences interested. It is, of course, a remake of the 1981 film with the same name.

In contrast, Sajid Khan’s ‘Himmatwala’ which released last week saw a drop at the ticket windows which can perhaps be put down to word of mouth. The film is currently struggling below the 50 crores mark, putting it way below the halfway mark in its first week to what Khan had promised it would achieve.
